Why does the Here One Android app require location permission?

The Here One Android app requires location permission due to the Android system requirements as determined by Google (the creators of Android): a scan over Bluetooth Smart (aka Bluetooth Low Energy, BLE) is required to detect and pair with your Here Buds. Since this scan may inadvertently pick up a BLE beacon which might convey location information, Android requires third-party apps, such as the Here One app, to get explicit permission for location access from the user in order to scan for and connect to BLE devices, including the Here Buds. Any location information collected by the app will be treated in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
